KYN-28 Medium-Voltage Switchgear 6(10) kV

The KYN-28 series of complete switchgear is intended for the reception, distribution, switching, and protection of three-phase AC with a rated voltage of 10 (6) kV at 50 Hz. The solution is used in substation and power-plant switchgear lineups, as well as at industrial and infrastructure sites where selective protection, high availability, and safe maintenance are required.

A metal-clad design with a withdrawable vacuum circuit-breaker and compartmentalization (busbar, circuit-breaker, cable, and relay/control) confines short-circuit effects to a single compartment. A system of mechanical and electromagnetic interlocks prevents incorrect operations, and a lockable shutter mechanism covers the primary contacts in test and maintenance positions of the draw-out unit, improving operator safety.

The modular architecture allows you to configure the lineup for the project task, expand with additional panels, and flexibly integrate secondary systems. Various connection schemes, cable entry directions (top/bottom), and service options (single-sided/two-sided) are supported.

  • Typical functional panels: incoming, bus-section, feeder, metering/measuring, VT/SA.
  • Protection and control integration: auto-reclose (AR), automatic transfer (ATS), under-frequency load shed (UFLS), selective protections, telecontrol and SCADA links.
  • Compatibility with various 6-10 kV vacuum circuit-breakers subject to electro-mechanical interface compliance.

The enclosure is made of steel with an aluzinc coating; exterior panels are powder-coated for long-term corrosion resistance. The construction protects equipment in adjacent compartments and facilitates routine maintenance.

Standards compliance. KYN-28 switchgear is designed to meet international norms; insulation levels, environmental and service parameters are defined at the design stage and verified by documentation and project testing.

  • IEC 62271-200 - metal-enclosed/metal-clad MV switchgear, including internal-arc classification (IAC).
  • IEC 62271-100 - circuit-breakers (vacuum); IEC 62271-102 - earthing switches.
  • IEC 60071-1 - insulation coordination (standard levels).
  • EN/IEC 60721-3-3 - environmental conditions (indoor, weather-protected); EN/IEC 60529 - degree of protection (IP).

Scope of use

KYN-28 is used in networks with an isolated or compensated (Petersen-coil) neutral as part of medium-voltage substations and switchgear:

KRU-2-10 Medium-Voltage Switchgear 6(10) kV

KRU-2-10 is a line of metal-clad medium-voltage cubicles for receiving, distributing, and switching three-phase power at 6/10 kV, 50 Hz (operation at 60 Hz available on request). Intended for systems with an isolated neutral or a neutral grounded through an arc-suppression reactor/active resistor, ensuring correct protection behavior and network stability under single-phase earth faults. The series is produced for domestic and export markets for indoor substations at utility and industrial sites in oil & gas, mining & metallurgy, transport, public utilities, data centers, and infrastructure hubs. Environmental classification follows EN/IEC 60721-3-3 (replaces GOST 15150 U3).

The base design is a welded steel enclosure (project-specified RAL) reinforced with stiffeners. The interior is divided by solid metallic and insulating barriers into independent compartments: circuit-breaker truck, cable, busbar, and protection/auxiliary (LV). A shutter mechanism automatically closes the fixed contacts when the truck is moved to the test/maintenance position; shutters can be locked for safe work. The metal-clad concept localizes internal-arc effects within a single compartment, routes overpressure via directed relief, and provides a protected front-raising personnel safety and equipment availability.

A withdrawable vacuum circuit-breaker is used as the main switching device (endurance class M2/E2/C2 as specified). Mechanical and electrical interlocks prevent mal-operations; a fast earthing switch with making capacity (make-proof) is provided, as well as voltage-presence indicators. Optional motorization of the CB truck and earthing switch enables remote transfer to service/test/grounded positions. Top or bottom cable entry can be implemented, with lugging/termination of power cables, installation of CTs/VTs, ZnO surge arresters, and monitoring devices; cable testing is permitted in the test position with main contacts isolated.

Cubicles integrate with microprocessor IEDs for protection/automation (autoreclosing/automatic transfer, overcurrent/voltage/distance protection, optical arc protection) and support telecontrol protocols and SCADA integration. Various bus schemes can be implemented (single bus with section coupling; bypass on request), using copper or aluminium busbars with bay-by-bay sectioning via bushing insulators. The design supports front-side routine operations and rear access for installation/maintenance; removable rear panels and compartment lighting simplify service. Standard supply includes anti-condensation heaters, screened raceways for secondary wiring, and directed pressure-relief flaps.

  • - Typical feeders: incomers, bus couplers, outgoing feeders, transformer feeders, metering/measurement, VT/SA, auxiliaries.
  • - Safety: internal arc classification (IAC - per spec), shutter mechanism, interlocks, spring-operated earthing switch, voltage indicators.
  • - Integration: protection IEDs, telecontrol/SCADA, top/bottom entries, motorized drives, copper/aluminium busbars.

KU-10S Medium-Voltage Switchgear 6(10) kV

KRU KU-10S is a modular medium-voltage panel system for receiving, distributing, and switching three-phase power at 6 and 10 kV and 50/60 Hz. The panels are designed for systems with an isolated neutral as well as neutrals earthed via an arc-suppression reactor (or a resistor as specified) and are applied in indoor substations, at industrial facilities, and across infrastructure sites.

The mechanical basis is a self-supporting enclosure made of formed steel panels joined by high-strength blind rivets, without welding. This minimizes heat-induced distortion during assembly and maintains stable cabinet geometry. 2 mm aluzinc-coated sheets form a robust, corrosion-resistant frame. Front and rear doors are finished with polyester powder paint (standard RAL 7035, other colors on request) providing high resistance to mechanical and climatic impacts.

Scope of application

KU-10S is recommended for distribution nodes at generation and consumption facilities:

  • Indoor MV switchgear of package substations, distribution points, and main step-down substations (6-10 kV) on industrial and infrastructure sites;
  • auxiliary switchgear of power plants; substations of transmission and generation companies;
  • oil & gas, mining, chemicals, metallurgy, utilities, data centers, and pumping stations;
  • retrofit projects integrating with existing busbars and cable routes.

Structure and layout

Each panel is divided into four independent compartments with solid vertical and horizontal barriers, increasing overall rigidity and ensuring fault compartmentalization:

  • cable compartment (feeders, CTs, surge arresters, earthing switch);
  • auxiliary/low-voltage compartment (P&C, metering, controllers, terminal blocks);
  • busbar compartment (air insulation, bushing/post insulators);
  • switching compartment (withdrawable cassette/truck with the primary apparatus).

The partition between the switching and cable compartments is quick-removable, reducing service time. MV-compartment doors made of 2.5 mm sheet steel use hinges and latches rated for impulse loads under internal-arc conditions; the switching-compartment door has a viewing window and an emergency breaker-trip handle.

Withdrawable cassette (truck)

The cassette is a truck with an operating mechanism and mounting interfaces for the panel’s function: vacuum circuit-breaker/contactor, disconnector, VT with fuses, auxiliary service transformer, etc. Three fixed positions are provided: service (racked-out), test, and service/maintenance (on a handling trolley). Travel between "test" and "service"/"in-service" is via a worm drive with the door closed; the position is indicated on the front mimic. Stationary primary contacts are protected by an automatic shutter mechanism with padlocking provision.

Safety and internal-arc robustness

  • confinement of internal-arc effects within a single compartment;
  • comprehensive mechanical/electrical/key interlocks per safety logic;
  • truck movement is permitted only with the front door closed;
  • degree of protection of the switching compartment with door open - IP21 (shutters closed);
  • inspection windows for visual control of operations;
  • pressure-relief flaps/plenums at the top of MV compartments for directed venting;
  • voltage-presence indication on feeder and busbar circuits on the front panel.

Options, digitalization, and services

  • motorized drives for the cassette truck and earthing switch for remote TEST/SERVICE and ON/OFF operations;
  • arc-flash protection (fiber-optic sensors/arc relays) with high-speed tripping;
  • online thermal monitoring of bolted joints; breaker operation counters;
  • video surveillance inside compartments (breaker, earthing switch) with display at HMI/SCADA;
  • truck interchangeability and spare cassettes, handling trolleys, and spare-parts kits.

Standards compliance

  • IEC 62271-200 (metal-enclosed switchgear up to 52 kV), IEC 62271-1 (common requirements);
  • IEC 62271-100 (circuit-breakers), IEC 62271-102 (earthing switches);
  • IEC 61869-2/-3 (CTs/VTs), IEC 60529 (degrees of protection, IP);
  • IEC 61000-6-2/-6-4 (EMC for industrial environment), IEC 60068-2 (environmental/mechanical tests).

We offer documentation for manufacturing KM-1 switchgear:

  • Pre-tender documentation: single-line diagrams, inquiry sheets, and technical description;
  • Working drawings, 3-D models, BOM, secondary schematics, and cable schedules tailored to your production;
  • Arranging contract manufacturing of enclosures/assemblies with partners; you perform assembly, installation, and routine factory tests;
  • Adapting the package to project requirements and your plant's manufacturing capabilities;
  • Transition/interface panels for integration with third-party equipment and existing MV rooms.

Why work with us:

  • No need to expand engineering staff: the documentation set targets engineers of average qualification;
  • Series launch without pilot prototypes thanks to unified assemblies and proven solutions;
  • Expert support on assembly, commissioning, and integration of protection/SCADA, plus guidance on KM-1 manufacturing nuances.
