Switchgear 20 kV K-201 «Volga»

Middle-voltage 20kV switchgear K-201 Volga are used to receive and distribute electric power of three-phase alternating current with frequency of 50 Hz in networks with insulated or earthed neutral.
The enclosure body is made of high quality steel sheet with aluzinc-aluminised anticorrosion coating on high-precision equipment by cold forging. External elements of the enclosure such as doors, side panels are powder painted.
To ensure safety in case of electric arcing, cabinets with sliding elements are divided by metal partitions into compartments:
- busbar compartment;
- a compartment of retractable elements;
- compartment for current transformers and cable connections;
- compartment of auxiliary circuits.
Compartments of the withdrawable element, current transformers and cable connections, auxiliary circuits on the front side of the cabinet have doors with special locks. In cabinets with double-sided service in the rear of the cabinet is a removable panel that provides access to the compartment of current transformers and connections. Sliding modules with switches, contactors, sectionalisers and voltage transformers allow easy maintenance and repair of this equipment in operation. Schemes of auxiliary circuits of switchgear are designed for various microprocessor-based protection, control, automation and signalling devices. Electricity metering can be carried out on induction or multifunctional microprocessor-based electricity meters.
Full operational safety of the K-201 Volga series switchgears is ensured by the design solutions, simplicity and clarity of switching operations, as well as a well-designed system of operational interlocks. Design solutions ensuring safe operation include:
- the presence of metal partitions between compartments of switchgear unit, allowing localisation of an accident within one compartment;
- availability of arc protection systems with emergency pressure relief valves and modules reacting to flashover with response time up to 5 ms;
- availability on the front of the cabinets of indicators of voltage presence on live parts of the connection and sockets for checking the presence of voltage and phasing of cables. The simplicity and visibility of switching operations is ensured by: the possibility of visual control of the position of switching devices, the presence on the façade of cabinets mnemonic scheme reflecting the position of the withdrawable element, as well as contacts of circuit breakers, disconnectors and earthing switches.
The interlocking system prevents incorrect actions of personnel during operational switching. The following mechanical interlocks are provided:
- locking, fixing the withdrawable element in the operating and control positions;
- lock preventing movement of the withdrawable element when switching on the earthing switch;
- lock preventing the opening of the doors in the control and repair positions of the withdrawable element;
- lock preventing opening of the door of the withdrawable element compartment in the working and intermediate positions of the withdrawable element;
- interlocks preventing operation with the earthing switch when the bay compartment door is open and the withdrawable element is in the working or intermediate position;
- interlock preventing the opening of the bay door when the earthing switch is open.
