Switchgear design documentation to order

We provide contract design documentation for manufacturers of electrical equipment 0.4–220 kV: metal-clad MV switchgear (IEC 62271-200), metal-enclosed switchgear and ring main units, package substations, outdoor switchgear, disconnectors and operating mechanisms, retrofit kits, DC switchgear 600 V.

What the manufacturing documentation package includes

  • assembly drawings and general arrangement drawings;
  • detailed DWG drawings (AutoCAD) with technical requirements;
  • specifications and bills of materials (BOM);
  • 3D models in STEP/IGES for CNC machining and visualisation;
  • electrical schematics and external wiring tables;
  • technical specifications and material take-off lists.

How we work with manufacturers

We act as an outsourced design office: a permanent engineering team under contract or a standalone project. Assignments can be provided as a specification, a sketch, a sample unit or a customer questionnaire. Under agreement we sign an NDA and hand over the source CAD files and drawings.

Documentation for customers and tenders

For equipment buyers we prepare documentation packages for tender participation: data sheets and questionnaires, technical specifications, explanatory notes and preliminary material take-off lists.

3D modeling of electrical equipment

We perform 3D modeling of electrical equipment: MV switchgear, metal-enclosed units, package substations, outdoor switchgear, disconnectors, operating mechanisms and individual assemblies. The model is a single source of data: 2D drawings, BOMs and CNC files are all derived from it.

What a 3D model gives to production

  • assembly fit and collision checks before any metal is cut;
  • DWG/PDF drawings geometrically consistent with the model;
  • STEP/IGES files for CNC machines, laser cutting and bending;
  • renderings for catalogues and commercial proposals;
  • fast parametric adaptation to a specific order.

Delivery formats

We deliver STEP, IGES, DWG and PDF. On request — native CAD files. A model can also be developed from a sample unit taken from the factory floor.

Manufacturing support for electrical equipment

Manufacturing support takes the product from a documentation package to shipment: we answer shop-floor questions, update the documentation promptly and issue engineering change notices.

What the support includes

  • design supervision during manufacture against the issued documentation;
  • consultations for production engineers and assemblers on drawings;
  • documentation updates following assembly and test results;
  • issuing change notices and sketch sheets;
  • participation in approving substitutions of materials and components.

Working arrangement

Remote or with on-site visits to the factory. Response time to production queries is within one working day. We work with manufacturers of MV switchgear, metal-enclosed units, package substations, outdoor switchgear and with equipment buyers.

Material take-off lists for electrical equipment

We develop preliminary material take-off lists for equipment 0.4–220 kV: MV switchgear, metal-enclosed units, package substations, outdoor switchgear, disconnectors. Manufacturers need them for cost estimation, steel and component procurement and for tender participation.

What the take-off list contains

  • black and stainless steel rolled stock — by item and grade;
  • electrical steel, copper, contact materials;
  • insulators, bushings, terminal blocks, conductors;
  • switchgear components and instruments;
  • paints, coatings and consumables.

For tenders

For tender participation we prepare the take-off in the buyer’s format: with weights, units of measurement and references to the applicable standards. The calculation is based on the 3D model and drawings, so the error margin is minimal.

Technical specifications for electrical equipment

We develop technical specifications for electrical equipment 0.4–220 kV: MV switchgear, metal-enclosed units, package substations, outdoor switchgear, disconnectors, operating mechanisms, DC switchgear 600 V. Specifications are required for series production, certification and customer acceptance.

What we do

  • develop specifications based on IEC 62271 and the product documentation;
  • define technical characteristics and test methods;
  • prepare the acceptance documentation package;
  • coordinate the specification with the customer and the certification body;
  • keep the specification up to date as the product evolves.

Who needs it

Manufacturers — to put a product into series production. Buyers — for equipment acceptance and inclusion in contract documentation.
